Why a custom website?
Do you know what it really takes to build a custom website?
Well, there hundreds of key components that go into building a custom website.
First thing, where is my custom website going to be? Obviously not under my bed.
Second, Why a custom website?
A custom website consists of Hosting, (physical location of your website), URL (domain), and code. (CSS, HTML, PHP, Java).
Hosting is simple but can get complicated. You can call hosting providers such as Go Daddy, Host Gator, Blue Host, or Pork Pixel to easily set up your home base for your new website. There are many options you may choose from these goliath hosting companies such as a shared server, cloud server, dedicated server, and more. There are many add-ons with your hosting service that you should take advantage of, like DNS and SSL. These hosting firms will guide you on which plan to pick depending on the size and goal of your new company or blog. Just ask your self, what is my ultimate goal for this website? Maybe a brochure site where people can check out some current information on a specific topic, or maybe an E-commerce website because you have a great product idea and would like to sell it to the world, or a portfolio website to showcase your talents. Picking hosting can be tedious but with the right direction and the knowledge of what the end goal of your website is, you will be closer to making the right choice. You can always upgrade when you start to see tons of traffic coming to your website.
As Google crawls around the world looking at every website it looks at key metrics like Metadata, tags, and keywords. As it reads the website for valid information it compares it to similar websites. When having a one-off custom coded website google see this as being unique. This will help rank you higher in the long run. You want your domain to look like “https://www.porkpixel.com”, not “https://www.randomdomain.com/porkpixel” These site builders use your traffic to build up their own Search engine Optimization. WHAT!! Ya, all that hard work you do you would only get some of the benefits. Now with using a content management system like word press you can actually upload a theme and manipulate the code behind the scenes to create a custom website. Sounds complicated. Now you do not have to edit any code if you do not want to but the website will not be a fully custom marketing beast. So if you don’t know what you are doing or maybe you’re a bit confused, consult a web developer near you. Like me!
Bottom line having a custom one-off website will give you great benefits in the long run. This will save you time and money for the next update or mobile feature that can put pressure on you to make your website current.
