Wardell PicquetArtist | Web Designer | Web Developer

 Wardell Picquet is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Wardell graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana under the tutelage of the late Artist, John T. Scott. His degree was in Art and, uniquely, included multiple Areas of Concentration in Drawing, Graphic Design and Printmaking. In his hometown he was a Fine Artist and Graphic Designer. He spent five years as a Public-School Elementary Art Teacher and High School Graphics Instructor. Picquet, along with two partners, established and developed REDDOT, a Visual Arts Magazine. REDDOT was New Orleans’ first full-color Arts magazine, dedicated to the interests of Artists and Arts Organizations. 

Wardell has lived in San Antonio, Texas since his displacement by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Here in San Antonio he has worked in the nonprofit Art sector with StoneMetal Press Printmaking Center and spent time as a member of SAVA (San Antonio Visual Artists), Msanii Afro Centric Artist Collective, Gevers Street Studio and the Artist Group, Art at the Jalapeno. He worked as an Art Instructor for the 21st Century Program under the Carver Community Cultural Center. 

For ten years, Wardell Picquet trained the next generation of Graphic Design professionals in his role as Full-time Graphic Design Instructor at Sanford Brown College – San Antonio (formerly IADT – the International Academy of Design and Technology). He is currently a Board member of the Carver Community Cultural Center, serving on the Marketing and PR Committee. Wardell handles the Design and Marketing interests of the Event Committee of the Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce. He serves as the Curator/Arts Community Liaison for SAEAS (San Antonio Ethnic Arts Society). He also teaches Art workshops for the Education Department of the McNay Art Museum and Inspire Fine Art Community Center. 

Wardell’s primary interest is spending time on the development of his Art and Design enterprise, Picquet Studios. Picquet Studios is dedicated to the production and promotion of Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design and Art Education. It also partners with community and other business interests.
